How to Write a Book and Position Yourself as an Industry Authority

When I wrote and published ‘Eightstorm’ in 2006, I had no idea that it would lead to a business assignment from Japan in 2022.

Last month, we were contacted by one of the largest Japanese brands and they wanted us to have a look at their LinkedIn content marketing strategy.

I thought they were referred by one of our Government clients but in reality they had come from Amazon after reading ‘Eightstorm’.

Writing a book and publishing it is an amazing experience.

It forces you to put your thoughts together and make something that stands the test of time.

It took me 2 years to write ‘Eightstorm’ but it was not work, just a feeling of creative joy.

Sometimes, you can create a new business movement with your book and become the ultimate authority in an industry.

When you position yourself as your industry’s authority, you no longer have to discount your prices because you are competing on value, not price.

You will be the first in your market position when they seek advice, and you will be the trusted advisor people come to when they are ready to invest in having their problem solved.

In other words, when you are the authority, you have no competition.

You create a new standard in your industry, and you are seen as the one and only person who can deliver value at the highest level.
